Defining Moments

This print was inspired by the Women’s Marches that were happening in astounding numbers across the world in 2017 and earlier.

Looking at photographs from the marches, I was struck by certain particularly iconic moments; British woman Saffiyah Khan facing off against an English Defence League protester with a gentle smile in Birmingham; Ieshia Evans standing calmly before a group of Baton Rouge police officers in protest against the shooting death of Alton Sterling.

I wanted to capture these moments and bring them together, in a visual representation of female strength and resilience.
